On this show our guests are Richard Millington and David Murray from Shoosmiths.

Richard is an experienced lawyer who provides counsel on strategic projects across the retail, technology, entertainment and sports sectors.

As well advising on some of the sporting world’s biggest deals his experience includes negotiating cross border joint ventures, developing and executing litigation strategies in multiple jurisdictions and working on key outsourcing, IP exploitation (including content/broadcast rights), sponsorship, distribution and agency arrangements.

As Legal Manager for the Nike Football Business Units, General Counsel for Umbro and then VP International Counsel for Iconix Brand Group Inc he managed legal teams and budgets on a global level and worked with lawyers from the top US firms through to small boutiques. His experience of working at the front line in competitive global markets enables him to provide expert, results-orientated and responsive legal advice.

David has more than 25 years' expertise in the broadcast media and spent 14 years as at the BBC where he was Head of Sports Rights, negotiating deals with a host of world-leading sports rights holders including the International Olympics Committee, UEFA, FIFA, Premier League, Formula 1, Six Nations, and Wimbledon.

Four years ago he launched his own sports business consultancy, Fozmuz with his colleague Robert Foster.

David is a highly skilled negotiator, having concluded hundreds of media deals with the biggest sports federations, and also teaches negotiation at the University of Salford, and through his own company, the Better People Organisation.
