LM1181 Happy Pi Day

LM, Episode 1181, 3/14/23, Happy Pi Day

Today, March 14, 3.14, is the day that math and science nerds the world over celebrate Pi Day, the mathematical constant of 3.14 that is the circumference of every circle regardless of size.  Twyla’s school is having her wear a t-shirt with the Greek letter Pi on it.  I don’t even want to know what craziness is going on there today.

My friend, Dennis, who may be the person who has been on my List of 37 Friends the longest, is a former science teacher and a great runner.  The stars aligned last Pi Day for him.  He was hiking in West Virginia when he came upon a group of runners about to start a race.  When he asked them what was happening, they said it was a Pi Day race.  Dennis changed into his running clothes and shoes, jumped in, and, even though he is 73 years old, he won.  His prize was a pie that he proceeded to eat for supper. He was overjoyed telling me this story.

If you’re like me and not really into Pi Day, take heart, the much less cerebral holiday of St. Patrick’s Day is just three days away.

Thank you for listening and always remember laughter matters.
