LM1033 Management Monday

LM, Episode 1033, 10/10/22, Replay #554 Management Monday

Yesterday I mentioned we have always had an ice maker in our refrigerator until we recently lived in an apartment.  It seems ice makers heat up just before dumping the ice so it will break the cubes loose from the mold.  We had an ice maker once that got caught in the heat up cycle.

When the repair MAN, with emphasis on man, showed up, Twyla warned him the ice maker was hot, then she watched him stick his hand in the freezer and quickly draw it back, exclaiming, “Damn, that’s hot.”

Twyla said, ´´Yeah, I should have warned you.”

Today on Management Monday I want to remind you that, although women make up half the population, they make 70-80% of purchasing decisions and there are two actions you can take to make your product or service more attractive to them.

First of all, hire women in executive positions.  Only 25% of executives in American companies are women.  Secondly, eliminate the pay gap between women and men in your company.  Sure, it will increase your costs, but there are people who look for companies who treat women equally and Twyla and I are two of them.  We hired a roofing company simply because they had a woman salesperson.  We also selected an insurance agent who is a woman.  Your sales will increase and so will your profits.

Twyla is the most capable person on the earth.  She knows how to do carpentry, plumbing, she even rewired our daughter, Maggie’s house.  I have long encouraged her to open her own company that caters to women’s remodeling needs.  Twyla would meet with these women, then have a team of muscular, young men who would work shirtless while taking direction from Twyla.  And the company would be named, Damn That’s Hot Remodeling and Repair.  People would think she’s talking about her workers, but you now know the real story and you will know when she does it because you’ll never see or hear from me again.  I’ll be too busy counting the money she’s making.

Have a great week and always remember laughter matters.
