" Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10).  Okay my lovely friends, it is time to clean house! "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." Proverbs 31:25.  This week I am joined by my lovely sister, Julia, to discuss fear and motherhood. We mommas frequently enter into our motherhood with many broken and wounded places - places that can often be the breeding ground for fear. Then all too often this fear begins to be the place that we mother from, robbing us from true love and true freedom.   I was so delighted to have this conversation with...

It was a treat for my heart to chat with my dear friend Carrie, as we discuss the importance of helping our daughters know who they are in God.  In a world that speaks so many lies into our daughters' hearts, we mommas must speak the truth of God's blessings and affirmations over them. In doing this, we can help them rest in the...

160. BE more DO less

February 13, 2024 09:00 - 24 minutes - 16.8 MB

"Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” ~Mark 6:31.  This week, I dive into the idea that we are often guilty of becoming human DOings rather than human BEings. As we enter into the Lenten Season, this is an invitation to spend more time simply being with God rather than trying to do for God.  *Also* I will be taking a break to BE with God during this L...

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. “Anyone who is not for me is against me; and whoever does not gather with me scatters."  Luke 11:23 This week I kick off a mini-series about being "FOR" our children. We all deeply love and adore our children, and most of us would jump in front of a moving train for them. "Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say: Here I am.”  (Isaiah 58:9) This week I explore in depth my newest word of the year, "Hineni", which is Hebrew for "Here I am". When God calls us, will we hide like Adam and Eve, or will we respond like Abraham and Moses with a swift and servant-like response of “Hineni”?   If this episode blessed you, I would be so honored if you shared it with a friend, rated it, or left us a review! "Be Still and Know that I am God" - Psalms 46:10 This week I am so delighted to sit down with wife, mother, and author, Christine Hanus to discuss her book “Everyday Heroism: 28 Daily Reflections on the Little Way of Motherhood.” What if all the tiny little things you do all day, actually aren’t so tiny at all? What if each dish, each diaper, and each tear you wipe are glorifying acts of love that unite you closer with Christ? Christine’s book explores just that! I pray this conversation...

November 21, 2023 09:00 - 26 minutes - 18.1 MB

This week I sit down with the wonderful Colleen Carroll Campbell to discuss her book, "The Heart of Perfection: How the Saints Taught Me to Trade My Dream of Perfect for God's".  From one recovering perfectionist to another, this conversation delighted my heart. It wasn’t merely their intense love for our Lord that made the saints. Through their slow movement away from control and performance and toward docility and surrender these b...

November 07, 2023 09:00 - 24 minutes - 16.9 MB

"Abide in me, as I also abide in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in me." John 15:4 All the pruning and trimming in the world could not save a branch that is disconnected from the tree. So too, we must remember that abiding in Christ is the only way that the work Christ does in us will bear fruit.  If this episode blessed you, I would be so honored if you shared it with a friend, rated it, or left us a review! ...

Or do we fi...

"It is better to be a child of God than King of the whole world!" ~ St. Aloysius Gonzaga As I've find myself slowly entering into a new season of motherhood, I have been reflecting on what it means to launch our children into the world. From the earliest years of loving our little people, the world tells us that we must train them to become healthy, mature, independent adults! But what if dependency is actually the key to a selfless, life-giving, and beautiful life.   If this episode bless...

138. Homeschooling - Remember Your "WHY"

September 05, 2023 08:00 - 30 minutes - 21.1 MB

With the new school year beginning, I think it is essential that we sit back and remember to rest in our "why". I have received a number of homeschooling questions recently, and though we could get swept away in discussing specific curriculums, rhythms, and schedules, I think it is important that we remember why God has called us here. With this truth set before our eyes, we will have the freedom of heart to release the grasp of checklists, accomplishments, and to-dos, and instead, adventure...

137. But don't forget about MEEKNESS

August 29, 2023 08:00 - 29 minutes - 20.2 MB

Two things, only two things. He could have said anything, so much that he would have wanted us to mirror. He could have included “patient”, “courageous”, or “obedient”. But though he calls us to all of these, it is no coincidence that he  said two important things. “Learn from me for I am meek and humble of heart” - Matthew 11:29. We already dove into humility a few months ago, but we can not forget MEEKNESS! If this episode blessed you, I would be so honored if you shared it with a friend...

This week Johnna and I conclude our conversation on Abandonment to Divine Providence. We wrap up our conversation by diving deep into a trustful surrender into the arms of the perfect parent.  We often grasp on tight to the walls of life in fear of all that lies ahead and all that has come before. We walk in the dark unsure of which way to go. How can we move forward when we can't even see our own feet in front of us? This is where the treasure of total abandonment comes in... "Come, my so...

This week Johnna and I continue our summer series book study on Abandonment to Divine Providence. One of the struggles and traps of the Christian life is this deep sense of being far away from living the virtuous and spiritual life that God desires for us. When we recognize our frailty, and our sinful nature, we can mistakenly think this is a call to fix and 'perfect'...

June 27, 2023 08:00 - 24 minutes - 17 MB

"I may speak in the languages of humans and of angels. But if I don’t have love, I am a loud gong or a clashing cymbal. I may have the gift to speak what God has revealed, and I may understand all mysteries and have all knowledge. I may even have enough faith to move mountains. But if I don’t have love, I am nothing. I may even give away all that I have and give up my body to be burned. But if I don’t have love, none of these things will help me." - 1 Corinthians 13: 1-3 Who are we living o...

Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 18: 2-6 This week we chat about the power of viewing life through the eyes of our children. 125. That You May Have Life and Have it ABUNDANTLY

June 06, 2023 08:00 - 34 minutes - 23.5 MB

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10 Many of us have been hardwired to live from a scarcity mindset; the belief that we must grasp what is ours because our time, finances, worth, and relationships are limited and fleeting. Yet, this is not the Gospel.  We must remember that God is a God of Abundance and therefore we must trust that he will bless our life abundantly. What that looks like is only to be determi...

123. What if What You Are ALREADY Doing Could Make You Holy?

May 23, 2023 08:00 - 29 minutes - 20.5 MB

"Mary said, 'Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. MAY IT BE DONE TO ME according to your word.' Then the angel departed from her." - Luke 1:38 What if the pathway to holiness is to do what you are already doing, and endure what you are already enduring? The duties of the present moment are shadows that hide the action of the Divine Will.  Just as the disciples declared “It is the Lord!,” when recognizing Jesus after the resurrection, we too should let this be the cry of our hearts in ever...
