Have you ever sung an art song in Spanish, Catalan or Portuguese? How do you identify a Latin American art song? Have you had problems distinguishing between Latin American folk songs or art songs? In this episode, Patricia Caicedo will help you solve your doubts and invite you to participate in the upcoming celebration of the International day of Latin American and Iberian Art Song on May 11th. To celebrate this important day, she invites singers from all over the world to participate in a singing challenge. To do it, you have to send a video performing an art song in Spanish, Catalan, or Portuguese before May 4th. Although this is not a competition, participants will receive many rewards, including half scholarship to participate in the Barcelona Festival of Song 2021 and many other prizes. To help singers to choose their repertoire, Patricia talks about the exciting subject of Performance practice. This concept will allow singers to identify when they are performing an art song or a folk song. You will hear many beautiful musical examples.
