Moab-area locals share a valley governed by three political subdivisions: Moab City, Grand County, and San Juan County. And sometimes, planning decisions that can have implications valley-wide are made in these distinct political silos. But elected officials are hoping to encourage more cross-jurisdictional conversation. They’re creating a ‘Spanish Valley Working Group’ made up of representatives of the three governing bodies, aiming to foster more coordination. And, a contest to ‘re-wild’ the Colorado River wants engineering alternatives for the future of the Glen Canyon Dam. Plus, a new inter-agency task force supported by the federal government is aiming to address conservation issues across borders in the West.
