The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to down-list a favorite native fish species from endangered to threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Wildlife managers say the humpback chub might not be in danger of immediate extinction because of ongoing recovery efforts. Katie Creighton is the Native Aquatics Project Leader for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. She and her team monitor the humpback chub in several areas of the Upper Colorado River Basin. We spoke with her about the proposal to down-list this much loved native fish.
