Under Governor Gary Herbert’s direction, most Utah cities and counties will move their COVID-19 Health Risk Status from ‘moderate’ to ‘low’ on Saturday. However, Grand County will remain ‘moderate’ until May 29th. Local officials have said that this more cautious approach comes down to the tourism economy. Although Moab Regional Hospital has expanded their capacity and preparedness for a spike in COVID-19 patients, the continued need to protect Grand County’s rural medical infrastructure is still great.
