Listener, KZMU News is still on summer break, returning mid-June with fresh, local grassroots community-powered journalism. While we’re away, we wanted to highlight some of the great public affairs shows produced locally at your community radio station.

We start with our longest standing program, This Week in Moab. Hosts Howard Trenholme, Christy Williams-Dunton, and Molly Marcello discuss many topics with their guests, from local and regional civics issues, to community resources, and the environment.

Today we hear from Christopher Merritt, Utah’s historic preservation officer, who recently joined This Week in Moab to discuss the state’s first scientific investigation of a railroad town primarily focused on the lives of Chinese railroad workers. The excavation was done in early May and coincided with Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
