Over course of a few days last week, a group of ten runners traversed 360 miles from Bears Ears National Monument to Warm Springs Park in Salt Lake City. The run wasn’t a competition, or some sort of adventure challenge. The young Indigenous runners were moving across the state for healing, unity, and resiliency. Today on the news, we speak with Lynda Jim, a Diné activist and board chair of SLC Air Protectors about the Running as Medicine event. Plus, declining levels at Lake Powell – the second-largest reservoir in the U.S – have spurred officials in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico, to search for ways to prop it up.
