The Moab UMTRA project reached a major milestone this Fall – 10 million tons of uranium mill tailings were removed from the banks of the Colorado River. That means over 62 percent of the estimated 16 million ton pile is now gone. Representatives from the Department of Energy, local elected officials, and interested community members gathered to celebrate this week. Many spoke about healing the community and the environment, crediting the hard work and dedication of passionate people to get the project this far.
