*Saturday Extra* Since 2016, local experts and state regulators have studied the front yard at Dr. Roslynn Brain-McCann's home. Her garden holds the first experimental permit in Utah for a simple gravity-fed graywater system, meaning that a shower and a load of laundry can water the garden's fruit trees and native pollinator bushes.

This week the Utah Water Quality Board visited Moab, toured Ros’ garden, and unanimously approved a new graywater rule that would allow these simplified graywater systems across the state. The board will wait for public comment before finalizing it into code.

Today on the extended newscast, we hear from Ros and landscape designer Jeff Adams, on everything from how best to use a graywater system to the origin of these new ideas around water use in Moab.
