There’s a canyon in the Book Cliffs managed by the Natural History Museum, where researchers do experimental archeology. Over 500 archeological sites have been found among this high-elevation oasis in the desert, mostly from the Fremont civilization. The Range Creek Field Station has become a kind of outdoor laboratory, where researchers use ancient techniques to better understand how people may have lived here 1,000 years ago.
