Emily Kinney joins Kyle Meredith to talk about her new album, Swimteam. The actress/musician tells how Cursive’s Tim Kasher gave her encouragement to keep pursuing music, reconnecting with the music of Rilo Kiley and Counting Crows, and why she wrote a song called “Avett Brothers,” as well as the participation trophy she gave an ex through the lyrics of “B or C For Effort”. Kinney also talks about how her acting influences her songwriting, with a reference to The Walking Dead in “The Last Chance”, and keeping up with the shows she’s been on, including the long-running zombie show and Masters of Sex.
