Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker of  Sleater-Kinney catch up with Kyle Meredith to talk about Little Rope, a record that was completed in the aftermath of a deadly car accident involving Brownstein's mother and stepfather in Italy in late 2022. The Sleater-Kinney members discuss how the emotionally personal album felt like it had higher stakes, the choice to open with the dark and sinister “Hell,” and being very specific about the sounds they were going for with producer John Congleton. We also hear about Corin’s vocal approaches, especially on a collection that finds her taking the lead more than any other S-K album, having actress J. Smith Cameron star in the video for “Say It Like You Mean It,” and how even the darkest moments lead to a final sliver of hope by the end of the journey.
