Boy Named Banjo joined Kyle Meredith backstage at the Bourbon & Beyond festival in Louisville, KY in an interview originally recorded for Fender Premium Audio and Nissan Trucks. The band dug into their major label debut album, Dusk, which arrives a decade after their first, self-released LP, The Tanglewood Sessions, and what the evolution of their sound and songwriting has looked like in hindsight. Barton Davies, William Reames, Willard Logan, Sam McCullough, and Ford Garrard discuss the album’s tale of the stages of a relationship and how the record is a part one of a bigger release, mixing the album with car speakers and driving in mind, and their favorite artists to listen to on late night drives, including The Killers, Eagles, Motorhead, Underoath, & Sugarloaf. The Nashville-based band also talks about why whiskey plays a big part in their music, the story behind their latest single, “Something ‘Bout A Sunset,” and how Mike Dirnt of Green Day inspired one member to pick up a Fender bass.
