On KRDO's "The Extra" Thursday, guest Michelle Peulen, CDOT Region 2 Communications Manager, introduced listeners to Janet Bonnema, CDOT engineer and women’s rights advocate. In honor of Women's History Month, Peulen shared the legacy of how Bonnema fought to become a Colorado Department of Highways (CDH) engineer working at the Eisenhower Johnson Tunnel in 1970, eventually going to court to be able to pursue the employment position. She persevered and continued to work in the tunnel, collecting samples and taking measurements, until the first bore's completion in 1973.  Peulen also gave updates on the I -25 Gap Project, the US 50 and Purcell Interchange Project, as well as other updates impacting drivers in the region.   For drivers needing travel information, she suggested they go to COtrip.org and for project updates, codot.gov/projects
