On Wednesday's "The Extra", guests Sam Clark, Executive Director, Pikes Peak Real Estate Foundation and Steve Posey, Community Development Division Manager, City of Colorado Springs, discussed the subject of affordable housing and the challenges faced by those seeking solutions.  The Pikes Peak Real Estate Foundation was created to help address some of the problems caused by the region's housing gaps, and the need for collaboration between public, private and philanthropic sectors.  One innovative partnership recently launched is the Workforce Housing Fund, created to provide bridge loans for early stage development of affordable housing projects.  More information can be found at PPCF.org/PPREF   This is in keeping with the city of Colorado Springs' goal of creating or preserving 1,000 affordable housing units annually as part of its HomeCOS plan, a goal that was met and exceeded in its first year.  More information can be found at Coloradosprings.gov/homecos .
