President Biden’s Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci asked unvaccinated Americans to put politics aside and get the shot to protect themselves from the highly transmissible and “nasty” delta variant in an interview with ABC News over the weekend. “We’ve got to get away from the divisiveness that has really been a problem right from the very beginning with this outbreak,” Fauci added. His comments come as the White House continues to push its vaccination campaign after falling short of the administration’s 70% goal for the Fourth of July. The campaign has been a target for Republicans recently, with South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster misrepresenting the efforts on Friday and directing the state’s health agency to prohibit the “Biden administration’s door-to-door” tactics (the federal government is not going door-to-door, but rather encouraging local volunteers to do so). When Karen asked about the pushback on Friday, Press Secretary Jen Psaki said “the failure to provide accurate public health information, including the efficacy of vaccines and the accessibility of them to people across the country, including South Carolina, is literally killing people. So maybe they should consider that.”
