The main goal of our trip was to get to the mountains.  For one driver it is a two day trip (Dayne may have his permit next year).  In the middle is Omaha.  We were just in Omaha in 2011 so it was not a new zoo to us.   It is a pretty cool zoo however so we didn't rush to wake up and planned to spend the entire 2nd day at the zoo and the hotel pool.I couldn't find my camera (The one I borrowed from my mom) so all these pics are from Dayne and Audrey.

Right next to the zoo used to be the baseball field where they play the College World Series.  They tore it down and now have more parking.  Let me say one thing about the parking, it is ridiculous.  It is all spread out and not in any particular flow.  We were trying to park for are least 20 minutes.  We ended up not too far away but the traffic pattern needs improvement.  (It was a Saturday in summer so it was very busy).

In the family Audrey is known as the otter.  She swims just like one.  Super flexible and never wants to come out.  They are usually playful so it was interesting to see this one just hanging out.

They have an unusual prairie dog layout at this zoo.  Along a path there are grassy areas on both sides.  There are just random holes along the way where the prairie dogs just pop out of.  You can get pretty close as they are conditioned to humans.  Signs say don't feed them but of course people do.

The bongo is a cool creature.  First the name is fun.  Then the coat is a mix of zebra, antelope, okope.

Who doesn't love a rhino?  They had white and Indian rhinos.

Along a bridge there were probably thousands of Koi.  They have little gumball like machines where you can buy food for a quarter.  Drop it in and they go crazy.  Jumping all over each other.  Some of them got pretty big.  All kinds of colors too.  Then there were some ducks along the edge of the fray to pick up the stray bits of food.

Just a colorful picture of a macaw.
