In this episode, we’ve unbarricaded the doors from Halloween, scarfed down candy and are knitting away.   Maggie has been speeding along at her Pfeiffer Hooded Scarf for the Hobbitalong and is pretty sure she’s not going to have a problem finishing it in time for the movie.  Karen is in a similar boat, as she’s pretty sure she won’t have a problem finishing her Eyjafjallajokull shawl in time either, even though she ripped out the entire thing since the last episode.  Yes, you read that right.  She was back to the same place she left off–just before the last chart of the four–in about four days, to some Doctor Who and Marvel movie marathonning, though.  How much yarn she’ll have left over at the end of the shawl is another question.  She’s also nearly finished the Weeping Angel socks and she’s been working on the interminable sweater sleeves.

In Geek Squee, the Nerdpocalypse seems to be upon us, as in the span of about three days, PBS announced the US premiere date for Season 3 of Sherlock (OMG IS IT JAN. 19th YET?!), and the Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the X-Men: Days of Future Past trailers all came out.  We’re not sure Tumblr has recovered from the explosion.  Of course in the post-Halloween geekiness, we have a picture of Sir Patrick Stewart dressed as a lobster, and Col. Chris Hadfield had the most adorable costume contest ever.  There’s also a great–if very earwormy–video featuring our favourite Disney Villains in “Spell Block Tango”.  Prepare to have it stuck in your head for days.  There’s also a movement to mobilize the Cumberbatch fandom into doing good and a new Canadian First Nations female superhero that will be joining the Justice League (WOO!),

In Cravings, Covets and Crushes, we’ve found an Etsy store with some seriously cool Game of Thrones house emblem hoodies, a completely useless but bizarrely hilarious USB squirming tentacle you can get for the geeky loved one in your life, and two gorgeous knitting patterns: the Snow Pack Scarf by Kerin Dimeler- Laurence from the Knitpicks Glacier Bay Collection and the gorgeous Morticia shawl by Boo Knits  that has recently been released post-Halloween mystery knitalong.

The Hobbitalong Part 2: The Desolation of Swatch has begun!  There’s no required pattern or yarn, just the goal of completing a project of your choice before The Hobbit Part 2: The Desolation of Smaug opens in theatres on December 13th.  Feel free to post progress and pictures here on the blog, or chat about your projects in the thread over on the Ravelry group!
