First off, there’s a note for those who want to help the residents of Newtown, CT; if you’ve been avoiding the news like Karen has, just skip the first 30 seconds of the episode. We don’t mention it in the episode itself.

Then..lots of squealing and knitting and more squealing about our experience at the midnight showing of the Hobbit as much of our recent knitting is tied up in that. Of course there are other projects going on, so we fill you in on what we’ve picked up after finishing our Hobbitalong projects as well as discussing a couple things Maggie is thinking of working on sometime soon.

In Geek Squee, there are a lot of geek-related movies, tv shows and actors that received Golden Globe nominations, the zombie movie filmed at CERN is now available online for free, there’s a mystery worthy of Indiana Jones himself (and an update with the solution to the mystery!), the best Gangnam Style parody yet, and FINALLY, a trailer for the next Star Trek movie. Of course, there’s a lot of discussion of our opinions of The Hobbit (and the knitwear therein), as well as some news about one of the film locations that you can actually visit, as well as a very unique game played by some of the movie’s stars during an MTV interview.

In Cravings, Covets and Crushes, we feature Etsy seller “eattoast”, who has some unique geeky Christmas ornaments as well as some modified toys our fans are probably going to want to take a look at.

Also, right at the end of the episode there’s a little treat for our listeners, written by Karen and Maggie but performed by Karen because Maggie was too chicken.
