After a very long, very tiring summer full of college assignments, work, traveling and computer failures, we are FINALLY BACK!

In Adventures in Knitting, it’s been damn hot, but we’re still knitting!  Maggie had a big adventure and went to Savannah, Georgia, then was off to Disney World and Universal Studios (including the Wonderful World of Harry Potter and Karen is SO JEALOUS).  She didn’t have a lot of time to knit on her trip, big surprise, but she has still been working on gifts for family, including some socks in Loki-inspired self-striping yarn (we’ll double-check the dyer & name), Pixie Fart mittens from the CanConKAL, the Professor Higgins socks, and the Dragonwing Cowl.  She’s also still working on the Celtic Myths shawl, and has started a Jasmine Scarf.  At least when she hasn’t been crocheting something at the last minute for GISHWHES.  Best of all, though, AdminMonkey is FINALLY A PERMANENT RESIDENT OF CANADA, WOO.

Karen, meanwhile, has mainly been working on Cockatoo Brae (which she has…completely changed the plan for the colourwork section for, whoops, especially as she later figured out that she really did only need five colours for the yoke, OH WELL), and occasionally working on the Mystic Star shawl which is still super not done, as well as occasionally breaking the monotony with her Unicurves socks.  However, she has been doing a little sewing, and she finally got a rigid heddle loom.  Now she’s just waiting for summer craziness to be over so she can actually use it.

In Geek Squee, women are doing AMAZING stuff at the Olympics!  Sadly the media coverage is the opposite of awesome. >:(  What is completely awesome is that the ALS Ice Bucket Chalenge has funded research that has identified a gene that is linked to occurrence in ALS, which makes treatment that much closer a reality.  And in shallower news, Tom Hiddleston is on Instagram and has been posting pictures of himself dressed up as Loki, soooooooo yeah, we’ve been slightly distracted.  We found an article about someone in Texas that has been leaving crocheted pokemon at Pokestops, and the patterns are on Ravelry, so you can make your own!  Also, there was a book that came out recently that, big surprise, we were very interested in: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.  No spoilers in this discussion, but it was…interesting.

In Cravings, Covets and Crushes, the Knitter’s Fair is coming up, and we will be there!  Keep an eye out for our Agents of SHEEP shirts and Karen’s Peggy Carter hat, especially as she will have buttons to give out.  And of course we’re going to RHINEBECK!  Counting down the days, guys, counting down the days.  Karen has a new edition of Karen’s Newbie Gamer Reviews, as she’s been pretending it’s not a million degrees outside by playing The Long Dark, a survival game set in the Canadian wilderness during winter.  Ahhh, crunching snow, howling winds… *happy sigh*.  Karen also recently found out about a local farm that has their yarn and fibre for same online, Linc Farm!  They also have farmyard tours, so your intrepid hosts might have to do that sometime soon.
