Scripture: Ezra 3:10-13; Zechariah 4:6-10

After nearly 80 years of being in exile, the Jewish people would return to their homeland and begin rebuilding the Temple that had been destroyed by the Babylonians. After the foundation had been completed, those who were old enough to remember the glory of Solomon’s temple began to wail and bemoan this newer version due to its modesty. The newer generation celebrated the accomplishment and rejoiced over the work being done.

Perhaps you have felt like you’re returning to your writing project after being in exile for years. Maybe you’ve been comparing your work to that of others or the work you accomplished long ago. Like His message through the prophet Zechariah regarding this foundation being laid, we can also take comfort by applying these words to where we find ourselves…

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” - Zechariah 4:10a

No matter where you find yourself in the writing and marketing journey, take time to celebrate the foundation being laid and the progress God has helped bring thus far!
