Towards the end of their whirlwind tour of Scotland, Kate and William carried out engagements in the Orkney Islands, before travelling back down the East coast of Scotland to St. Andrews and then back to Edinburgh.

Their engagements on this leg of their tour of Scotland included:

Formally opening the Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall in the Orkneys.A visit to Orkney's European Marine Energy Centre.Meeting staff and clients of the Fife Young Carers organization (and a spot of land /sand yachting on West Sands Beach.)Meeting with students at St. Andrews University and planting the first tree in what will be the St. Andrews Forest.Meeting with fishermen and their families who are part of the Fisherman's Mutual Association.Meeting with lots of National Health Service (NHS) staff and hosting some of them at a drive in cinema at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, where they watched the Disney film Cruella.
