Your Tithing Questions Answered

This is also episode 23 in my 30 episode Prosperity Series because I am determined to help you break free from the mental disease of poverty so you can be the prosperous being you are meant to be.

Today I answer all of your questions about tithing.

When I started talking to my clients about tithing, I got all sorts of questions and I am sure you have the same ones. If you missed yesterday's episode, definitely go back and listen to it because I share my story about how tithing had a direct impact on my income. It's amazing to watch it. I wanted to share this with you because it's so important that you do tithe for your prosperity and the prosperity of others.

The big question I get is, who do I tithe to? You can tithe anywhere where you are being spiritually fed. That is the key. When we really look at tithing, it's about raising the vibration of the planet and getting the energy of money to flow. But when you're tithing, it is important that it goes where you're being spiritually fed. Which means if you are already tithing in to say, Habitat for Humanity, but you aren’t necessarily being spiritually fed by them, then it’s not a tithe. You're giving money to them because they do amazing things, which is fantastic, but that is not a tithe. Tithing must be given to where you are being spiritually fed.

The next question I get is, does it have to be a corporation or non-profit? It does not have to be a corporation or non-profit. It can be to anybody who is spiritually feeding you. It could be to your favorite author, your favorite podcaster, or your favorite YouTuber. Or someone you've been following on Facebook, whoever is spiritually feeding you should receive the tithe. One of my clients was sharing with me how she's been listening to a specific YouTuber for months, and receiving all of this amazing information, so that's the first place where she's going to tithe. As I shifted my thinking around tithing recently, my first tithe went to Edwene Gaines, who was the author of the book that inspired me to shift my tithing habits. She spiritually fed me and so I tithed to her.

The third question I get, or I guess a concern, is that if it's not a corporation is it still tax deductible? And this is really funny because I have to admit, this was the first thing that popped into my head. When I started thinking about tithing to people who spiritually fed me versus to an institution, my thought was, “But wait, this isn’t going to be tax deductible.” And then I had to stop and laugh at myself because my human just got in my way. I slipped into scarcity for a second, when the whole point of tithing is to create abundance! But I went right into my human way of thinking about the 3D tax deduction. If we remember that by putting the energy of money out into the Universe, that we're going to receive the energy of money back, who cares if it's a tax write off or not. So I had to chuckle at myself when my human got in the way. However, if you do happen to tithe to someone who has a non-profit, sure, it's going to be tax deductible. But if it's not a tax deduction, then who cares? My past three tithes have not been to corporations or non-profits. They've been to people who have truly spiritually fed me and it feels fantastic. That's all I'm looking for, an amazing feeling, and that's all you should be looking for as well.

Another question I get is “Does it have to be 10%?” And this is another funny thing when our human gets in the way. The whole idea behind tithing is that we are trusting God. We are trusting Source, the Universe, Infinite Intelligence, that we are taking care of, ALWAYS. When we trust, we are standing in our power and honoring our connection with Source. The question, does it have to be 10%?, is coming from scarcity. Scarcity and a lack of trust. Because if we really had trust and faith in Source, knowing that we are always taken care of, we'd give all of our money away because we know it was coming right back in. But we don’t. Our human gets in the way and we get really nervous. So here's my answer to the question. First of all, the word tithe means 10. So it's kind of written out and in the universe that it's 10. So if you're not tithing 10%, then, you're not actually tithing. However, how much you tithe needs to be a conversation between you, God, Source, Infinite Intelligence. I can't tell you, “You must tithe 10%.” That's your decision. You have to check in with God, Source, Infinite Intelligence, to determine what your tithing amount should be.

Now, I'm going to say again, tithe is 10%. You want to be so solid in your trust in Source, and knowing that God is your source and you are always taking care of, so that you're comfortable giving the money away. I know it can be a little scary in the beginning. But if you just do it, it's like ripping off a bandaid. And then you're going to see things coming into your reality, that are going to show you the benefits of tithing. But you need to make that decision. That's between you, God, Source, Infinite Intelligence. I can't be the one to tell you the amount, but I can tell you that tithe is 10%. The more faith and trust you have in Source, the easier it is to do. And you can just give it all away :)

Another question I get is, “Can it be more than 10%?” And my answer is absolutely! My goal is to hit the 30% tithing mark, and then go beyond that because the more you tithe, the more income you receive. If you're receiving abundance constantly, then you're going to have more than you need. When I talk about building a business, people always say, “Oh, I don't need that much.” Newsflash. This isn't about you! This is about creating abundance so you can give the energy of money back to the world. The more abundance you create, the more you can give.

I heard a story, I have not had the personal experience yet, but I've heard a story of a gentleman who kept tithing more and more and more. He got to the point where he was tithing 90% of his income because he didn't need it. He was creating that much prosperity by tithing. He just kept giving more and giving more. And the more he gave, the more he was able to give away, because he fully trusted in Source.

Another question I get is, “Does it have to be money? Can I tithe in a different way?” And again, the whole idea of tithe is to give away 10% of your income. You can do other things, and we all should be doing other things, but that's not actually a tithe. Remember you receive what you give. We've all heard that if you want more love, give more love. Well, if you want more money, you give more money. If you want more food, well, then give some food. If you want more help, then help some more people, which is all good. There's nothing bad about any of this. However, if you desire the energy of money to come into your life, then you need to be giving out the energy of money. Ask yourself, what is it that I really want? If it's money, then you need to be tithing in the form of money.

Another question is, “Am I tithing from my gross income or net income?” Here is a response that I read in Edwene Gaines’ book The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity, “do you want to be really abundant or a little abundant?” Again, it goes back to the more you give, the more you get. If you just want a little bit of abundance and prosperity, then you just give a little bit, if you want a lot of abundance and prosperity, then you give a lot. It's up to you. Again, you need to be checking in with Source. But feel into why you wouldn't do 10%. I know it's fear. That's all it is. We're going to talk more about the fear piece in the next episode, but just sit in your faithfulness of your connection with Source and you'll be fine.

And the last question is, “How exactly do I do tithe? Does it have to be physical money? Can it be a debit card? Credit card?” Whichever works for you. Heck money doesn't quite exist. Anyways, does it? It's just energy floating around in the ether and they print it left and right. There's nothing even to physically back it (like gold). It's energy. So send the energy however you want. I've been using Zelle which is great, money shows up for people instantly. I've used PayPal. You can use cash, can send someone a check, whatever feels right. The medium in which you send it really doesn’t matter. The important thing is that the energy of money gets passed along to them so that they can receive that energy from you.

Oh, wait. I do have one more question, I totally forgot. “What happens if someone doesn't want to receive the tithe?” This is a really interesting thing, and I've seen that happen. Everyone's on their own journey. They may not be open to receiving yet. If you remember, I think it was the ninth prosperity episode, I talked about, are you open to receiving the energy of money? Sometimes people haven’t yet done the inner work to be open to receiving it. I usually send a note to the person I am tithing to and say, “I'm sending you the energy of money as a thank you for spiritually feeding me in X, Y, and Z way. I hope that you will honor me by accepting this energy.” I frame it that way so that there's a little bit less resistance. If they don't accept your tithe, then find the next person to tithe to, knowing that you at least made an attempt to tithe to the first person.
