Parasha Mishpatim Geulah Gang drop: Toshia- This Parashat is connecting the "Love God Love People" aspect of summing up the purpose of the Torah. We learn as Masters over those in debt (HaShem towards us) how to treat those in debt to us. Then we learn how to properly act towards our neighbors. This is the summing up of Torah which Shlomo just revealed will inspire Mashiach to come! The piercing of the ear just about makes me sob. "I don't wanna leave you Master. You've been way too good to me to leave Your Presence." 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 PIERCE MY EAR HASHEM; Aziza- It's like a weird balance -- this concept. On one side you don't want to pierce your ear because you want to stand up tall and proud with your brothers and live out the responsibilities that Jewish men live up to. On the other hand, when it is with Hashem, you want to remain with him. So I question where that balance line falls. It would seem to me that Hashem wants us to stand up tall and proud as Jews - embracing the responsibilities and expectations He has of us, yet we should do so as His servant. I think this balance gives us the room for to also be His friend, His child, and His bride. Just some thoughts on it. You know when it explain it like that it makes me think of that part of the prayer at the end of the Amidah when we say Let my soul be like dust. The way you described Eleazar sound just like that - let my soul be like dust.
