KHM @ Home is back with another exciting recipe from our very own Ashley Newton. See how she makes Red, White, and Blue Pasta Salad. Perfect for your Fourth of July celebrations. 

Ingredients 
- Pasta -bow-tie about 7oz (9oz) [about half a box; can use any pasta you prefer]
- added salt once the water reaches a boil 
- Cheese - 3oz extra sharp New York white cheddar or other white cheese (cut into star shapes )
- Sun-dried tomatoes - 1/2 cup (julienne cut or finer chop) 
- Sweet peppers - 4/5 small (about 1/2 cup) 
- Sweet Onion - 1/2 cup chopped 
- Basil - 1/3 cup chopped 

Dressing:
- 1/4 white wine vinegar cup + 2 Tbs balsamic vinegar 
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder 
- 1/4 tsp ground mustard (dry seasoning) 
- 1/2 tsp onion powder 
- 1 tsp brown mustard, dijon, spicy, or stone-ground
- 1/4 tsp/pinch of salt and pepper 
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 

Instructions:
- Chop onion, basil, sun-dried tomatoes, and peppers 
- Cut cheese into cubes or use a star-shaped cookie cutter. 
- Boil pasta according to the package; do not rinse 
- To dye pasta divide into plastic bags and add two tablespoons of water and about 20 drops of dye in the desired color. Let rest for 5-10 minutes. (If going multiple colors, lay pasta on paper towels in a single layer and dab dry)
- Whisk together vinaigrette 
- combine all pasta and vinaigrette 
- add in chopped toppings 
- finish with cheese 
- chill and serve 
- garnish with additional basil if desired
