Regardless of where you live or work, there’s something many people have in common: debt. In fact, according to Zack Friedman of Forbes, student loan debt in the United States reached $1.56 trillion dollars in 2019. We won’t even get into credit card, mortgage, and health-related debts.

Many parents instill the need to make money in their kiddos—and not just any kind of money, but good money. The kind of money that will keep you from crawling back home to live with dear old Mom and Dad. However, the honest truth is that earning money isn’t always the issue. The real problem is that many people never grow up knowing how to manage money properly.

When you don’t know how to manage money well, you can find yourself feeling as if you’re trapped behind invisible bars. Ericka Young used to feel this way, too. Fortunately, she and her husband realized they could go against the grain and live life in freedom instead of financial prison. In this episode, we chat about:

why many people are okay with being in debt, what helps Ericka and her husband make financially fit decisions, the number one thing most people fail to do every month, how she and her husband approached college planning for their children, how she helps others get out of debt, and more!

SCRIPTURES TO MEDITATE ON

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. - Malachi 3:10 ESV

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. - Romans 13:8 ESV
