LaTeka is resilient and a loyal, hard worker; realizing who she was and gave her the notion to join the Navy, serving 8 years and participating in 3 deployments. During this time of military life, Lateka faced intense military sexual trauma. Unimaginable, with this being one of the places she should have been protected and safe. LaTeka still copes with the dilemma of this experience every day. LaTeka is reaching out to help women who have gone through similar situations that she has been through when she was in the military system.
LaTeka has been mentally abused and emotionally tortured; as a leader, LaTeka was broken and emotionally dismantled with all the trauma she has been through in the life of the military world. She has been pushed over the edge.
