In this episode of Keep Moving Forward I interview Coca-Cola’s Group Director of Sports Management and former NCAA DI football player, John Cordova.

“It’s up to you.” John Cordova always has a plan. Managing his decisions and actions in “small, intentional blocks of time”, John knows how to get to work and accomplish the goals he’s laid in front of him. How does he manage this? How did he develop the discipline and mental fortitude to set these strictures in place for himself and press always forward in pursuit of these goals? Through his time as an athlete. As a football player at New Mexico State University, John recognized the importance of working hard and putting himself on the line everyday for the betterment of the team. While the nature of a team sport allows an equal amount of accountability and blame to fall on every player, there is no denying that it is still up to the individual player to decide whether or not he will show up and deliver on what he is supposed to.

This attitude carried over into John’s professional career once his time as a student-athlete came to a close. Utilizing the values instilled within him through sport, John walked through every door opened to him and seized every opportunity he could until he ended up in a position he loves today with the Coca-Cola Company. The possibilities offered within athletics are endless, you just have to be willing to figure how how to use those possibilities to best suit your future unknown circumstances.

It was a pleasure speaking with John and I hope that you enjoy our discussion.
