Recently, a public demonstration took place outside of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s regional office in remembrance of the 1969 Santa Barbara Oil Spill and to bring attention to the plans to drastically expand offshore drilling operations. Even with petroleum at the forefront of residents' minds, many are still not aware of historical implications and detriments from resource mining in the Goleta Community.
