A crowd of nearly 1,000 peaceful demonstrators gathered on the Storke Lawn at UCSB for a rally organized by the Santa Barbara Black Lives Matter movement. It was one of many events happening nationally to call for justice in the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, and other recent racially-fueled violence. Chanting “No Justice, No Peace,” demonstrators marched down Del Playa Drive to Sands Beach. KCSB's Kali Acquaah spoke with Ethan Bertrand, IV Community District board member, and a speaker at the rally, about the social justice movement taking place in cities across the US, and each of their experiences of being students at UC Santa Barbara and living in Isla Vista.
