Are you overwhelmed by trying to share your God-inspired message while working your full time job? Or maybe you are homeschooling, raising tiny humans, or caregiving in some other way. Do you wonder if it’s worth it, or even possible, to build a ministry or business on the side? Here in Episode 81 of Just One Simple Thing, you’ll learn four principles that will help you honor all the work God has given you to do.

It’s never been a secret that I work full time while working on my business on the side. But recently, I’ve felt led by the Lord to be more transparent about that part of my journey. I want to help answer those questions about if it’s worth it or possible to build a ministry or business while working full time.

I know those questions well. I’ve lived them for more years than I care to think about. I have good news for you.

It is possible. It is worth it. You can do it.

That’s why I’m glad to share with you the four-part Honor System, to help you build your work into your life, instead of building your life around your work. You can get the outline of the Honor System in my new guide How to Pursue Your God-Inspired Dream While Working Full Time at doanewthing.com/guide.

Principle 1: HONOR YOUR DREAM

Your God-inspired dream matters and needs to take its proper place in your life. The hard part is figuring out the proper place.  Settling this in your heart is the key to avoiding unmet expectations, the comparison trap, and long-term dissatisfaction.

Principle 2: HONOR YOUR EMPLOYER

Whether you love your job or you hate it, God has a purpose for it in your life.  No matter where your job falls in your list of life priorities, when you are at work, it is your top priority. Be all-in when you are the re and give it your best effort.

Principle 3: HONOR YOUR BOUNDARIES

God’s protective boundaries give you space to do His calling while helping you avoid overwork and burnout. We covered this pretty well in the last episode, so if you missed it, head back to Episode 80 where I shared about the difference between barriers and boundaries.

Principle 4: HONOR YOUR CIRCLE

Get input from a variety of perspectives, including others who are in a similar circumstance and those who are a little ahead of you in this journey.

Build your circle of support ... a coach or mentor, freelancers and contractors, a sharing community ... from people who are available when you are.
