PARABLES #5 | The Lost Sons: How to Find Your Way Home | July 31, 2022
Jim Keena | Guest Speaker

When you’ve lost your way, how do you find your way home?

Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” Then Jesus told them this parable... Luke 15:1-3 (NIV)

When you lose something valuable, you search for it, and when you find it, you rejoice!

THE LOST YOUNGER SON
Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.” Luke 15:11-12 (NIV)

THE LOST OLDER SON
“The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.” Luke 15:28 (NIV)

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:2–3 (KJV)

Reflection Questions:
1) Describe a time, either past or present, in which you’ve felt lost.
2) Which of the two lost sons do you most identify with? Do you see yourself reflected in the younger or the older son?
3) Would you say that you’ve found your way home? If so, how did you find your way home, spiritually speaking?
4) In the parable of the Lost Sons, what is the most important lesson you’ve learned from it?
