Romans 12:1-16 (NIV)

Our Heavenly Father cares deeply about how we engage and support one another in the context of dating.

Deal Breakers:

Are they a committed follower of Jesus?

What fruits of the Spirit are evident in their lives?

Are they living out Romans 12?

Could this person be my best friend?

Leave people better than you found them

(Numbers 6:24-26; Matthew 22:34-38; 1 John 4:19-21)

Dating isn’t meant to fill a void

(Matthew 11:28-29; Psalms 23)

You don’t deserve to be anyone’s second choice

(Romans 5:8; Zephaniah 3:17)

Who’s supporting you?

(Romans 12:9-16; Hebrews 10:24)

Does this lead to flourishing?

(Genesis 1:26-28; Proverbs 13:20; Ephesians 4:2-3)

Reflection Questions:

1) Take time to reflect on the different ethical norms of dating between what the bible says and what society/culture says. What stands out to you?

2) What were you taught about dating and how has that influenced you today? Do you wish it would have been talked about differently and how so?

3) How can you commit to leaving people better than you found them, whether it be in the context of dating or not?

4) Who is someone in your circle that you can support?
