'chalk'




was green chalk we used


to draw hearts overlapping


across the gaps of the front walk


the moss blended so nicely


despite the weeds that grew


faster than our fingers could pluck


so we plucked at everything


cursing the lack of red chalk


and clean pavement to redraw us.
