The concept of “following Jesus” is found all throughout the gospel. Following Jesus is what makes us His disciples. As disciples of Christ we are followers of Christ.


This concept though is more of a spiritual one, then a physical one. When Jesus told people to follow him His request was concerning the proximity of their hearts, more so than their physical bodies.


We find in the 14th chapter of the book of Mark that after they took Jesus to be tried and crucified that Peter continued to follow Jesus but he continues to follow at what the Bible calls, “a distance”. Sometimes we can continue to follow Jesus, but we follow at a distance. Following Jesus at a distance led Peter to the wrong place, with the wrong people and eventually caused him to do the wrong thing.
