Kitty Vincent is the owner of Revolver Salon in Denver and she’s the guest on Ep. 265 of the Jon of All Trades Podcast debuting September 16, 2020.

Kitty Vincent was introduced to me by a mutual friend (Hi, Cecile!), and she’s the owner of Revolver: A Salon in Denver, and the lead ripping guitarist for Denver band Zealot. It’s always a thrill to meet parents of young children that aren’t dorky ciphers and who actually continue to engage in other pursuits beyond their own family.

The story of Kitty starting Revolver is quite harrowing and packed with insights both into the perils of entrepreneurship, how unexpected events can torpedo you if you let them (overcome in this case by Kitty’s unconquerable will) and the ingrained sexism that tilts our culture against women in ways both subtle and overt. And beyond that, we talk about how she got into hair to begin with, why she can’t work for anyone else (right there with ya’, sister), and how she’s gone above and beyond in terms of protecting her staff and her customers from COVID.

We also talk about her badass band Zealot. They’ve got a great sound, an interesting backstory, and an album that contains a cover by another local musician of each of their songs. That’s one of the stranger things I’ve ever heard, but it’s so damn cool, I adore it.

Be sure to visit Revolver at their website, or in person at 1489 Steele St. Unit C, Denver 80206.

And check out Zealot on Bandcamp or on Facebook.
