He is from a musical family as his parents recorded together as “Mom and Pop Winans”. His siblings David II, Carvin, Benjamin, Daniel, Michael, Ronald, Priscilla, Deborah, Angelique are also musically gifted and have careers in the music industry singing, writing and producing. With Vickie Winans, he had two sons, Marvin Jr. (Coconut) and Josiah Winans.
