Jacqui Cooper (@JCooperTravels) speaks with another Vassar graduate, Matilda Newcomb.   They discuss Matilda's interest and activism in the environmental area and her research across science areas.


She will be featured in the #smithsonian “American Women of Science: Recovery History, Defining the Future” Symposium. She gave a lightning talk about her research on disease transmission in the eastern oyster conducted at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center for the summers of 2018 and 2019 will be in the series “Women Scientists of the Future: Smithsonian Interns and their Paths through a Changing Scientific World”.  She shared that she is  grateful to be able to share her project and for the invaluable skills she learned during her internship as a REU student alongside so many incredible #womenscientists .


She is currently working as a Research Associate at Tonic.
