Unfiltered Christianity - Living Life in Transparency

16 episodes - English - Latest episode: over 3 years ago -

Hey everyone, what’s up? Welcome to Unfiltered Christianity. Ya’ll remember the days of film cameras? Where we only had one shot to take the picture and it just comes out the way it comes out. No editing, no filtering, no taking 100 shots just to get the right photo? I love film cameras, because you can’t fake it. Nowadays we can edit, filter and crop anything we don’t want people seeing. Sometimes I think Christianity can look like that too….we edit, filter and crop anything we don’t want people to see… So we’re going back to the basics. I asked my friends to give you their raw, honest, transparent, unfiltered testimonies so you don’t have to feel like you have to filter, edit, and crop your life anymore.

Brittney Siorida - Growing Pains of Loving Yourself After Sexual Assault

October 11, 2020 21:00 - 42 minutes - 29.3 MB

Sexual assault affects the lives of thousands of people on a yearly basis. Some never recover from the mental damage that this causes. Substance abuse and addiction and depression are commonplace in the downward spiral of negativity created by this. Being told by authorities and people even in the church that what happened was your fault only sends you deeper down the pit of despair and hopelessness. Not many find their way out of the abyss and learn to love themselves again. I did. But on...

October 11, 2020 16:00 - 50 minutes - 34.7 MB

A pandemic isn’t your typical place for many to find God, but for me it was the perfect place to do so. Struggling with self doubt and the pressures of life can be crippling and the importance of leaning on your faith is strongest in these moments where you feel at your weakest. In today’s times when we focus so much on the external. So much on material things and keeping up appearances so people do not see us as vulnerable or struggling, we can end up living our lives as flower vases - pre...

Lawrencia Scott - Growing Pains of Sanctification

October 11, 2020 15:00 - 32 minutes - 22.4 MB

Revelations 3: 16 says “So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth”, so in other words, having a personal relationship with God involves committing your heart, mind and soul to Him. But the journey of fulfilling this is easier said than done. It involves sacrifice of many worldly things in order to be truly sanctified. I talk about this, as well the importance of resilience as a black woman in America, especially as a Christian.

Growing up, you hear people talk about why you can’t have a career and be a mom at the same time. As a woman you are conditioned to limit your expectations of what you can achieve in your field. I grew up in Seventh-Day Adventist Latin church culture. My parents went through a divorce and a church leader told me that it was my fault. ‘Shine theory’ is all about helping someone to be their greatest version of themselves so that they can give the best of themselves to the people around them. In this episode, I explain shine theory in more detail and how building self confidence can help us radiate more positive energy in our lives. I also touch on marr...
