Episode 1: The Future Of Cybersecurity

Guests:
Zulfikar Ramzan, CTO RSA Security
Mike Newborn, CISO, Navy Federal Credit Union

In this first conversation, Zulfikar Ramzan and Mike Newborn tackle the elephant in the room—the digital disruption introduced by the current pandemic and the impact it has on risk management activities, security programs, and business operations. Ultimately, it’s about keeping the customers at the center of the conversation—in the heart of the culture.

There is no more time, nor room, for denial—the future is here and businesses need to adapt to and prepare for what’s ahead, what will remain, and what legacy parts of the company will disappear. We all know that there are severe implications of the pandemic on the cybersecurity workforce, information security programs, and risk management strategies, but this is no time for despair—despite all that we are dealing with, this is a time for reflection and improvement.

Today, organizations can identify new risks introduced by digital transformation and take this as an opportunity to reduce exposure in legacy and new systems, applications, and processes. This is the time to look at the future and take actions that will last and shape their security strategies for years to come.

Through communication and collaboration, our industry can work together to embrace the disruption in a way that can support immediate and long term business sustainability. Indeed, dealing with the here and now is fundamental, even if that means adjusting the risk appetite for the short term, but it also means that organizations that intend to stick around for the long haul should take the time to reflect and plan for more resiliency embracing a culture of security and privacy with the customer in mind.
