Resiliency Makes A CISO Successful In More Ways Than You Think | Paul Assaad (Former Air Canada CISO)
Guest: Paul Assaad
Hosts: Sean Martin | Marco Ciappelli
As a former CISO in many industries, Paul Assaad has experienced the need for information and system security in a variety of scenarios - but they all seem to come back to the need for resiliency in what ultimately presents itself as critical infrastructure in one shape, size, form, or another: public transportation, banking/finance, and aerospace.
The need for resiliency isn't just operational in nature like many might think, however - resiliency plays a keep role in procuring and maintaining a 3rd-party supply chain, in hiring and managing the team, and in keeping the CISO role resilient itself as it sets and manages expectations throughout the rest of the organization - from the line of business teams and IT department(s) that support them while keeping an eye on the investments up to the executive staff and board of directors that are focused on revenue, profits, and customer satisfaction.
While resiliency may seem binary in measurement, the impact it can have across the organization and on the business is far from on or off - and resiliency for the CISO role can and should be defined and measured accordingly.
Listen in as Paul shares some real-world examples involving trains, planes, and ... banking systems.
Listen up and enjoy.
