Being the CISO of a large Public University like Ohio State is not exactly a stroll in the park.

The level of complexity is surprising. At the same time, a college of this size is a financial institution, a hospital, an airport, a hotel, a retailer, a critical infrastructure, amongst other things, and this makes it subject to almost any regulation in the industry.

Another fun fact? All the largest and oldest universities in the World are foremost about education and research, which means they need to share information internally and with other academic bodies. They were the first to adopt the World Wide Web, for that purpose, and because of that, they all have ONE ACCOUNT management system that works for researchers, administrators, and students.

Now consider that different departments on campus have different technology needs for research, and it translates in the impossibility to use the same security controls ubiquitously.

Even if, like Helen, you were the CISO of one of the most prominent financial institutions in the World, you need passion, knowledge, vision, a fantastic team, and knowing that the value of cybersecurity goes way above being secure.

We enjoyed this story, and we expect you will too.
