The first Meeting occurred May 29th, 1954 in Oosterbeek, Netherlands. The Bilderberg Meeting has informal discussions to foster dialogue between Europe and North America. Every year since 1954, around 130 political leaders and experts from academia, industry, finance, the media and Labor are invited to take part in the meeting. Most participants come from Europe and the rest from North America. One third of them is in politics and government and the rest is from other fields.
