Yolanda’s Summary of 2 Samuel 13-15

2 Samuel 13-15
David has 2 sons Absalom and Amnon and a daughter Tamar. Amnon was obsessed with Tamar. Amnon has a friend named Jonadab who convinced him to act sick and let the King know that you want Tamar to cook for you and feed you. So Amnon tells his father that he is sick and that he wanted Tamar to come to the house and cook for him and feed him. The King tells Tamar to go to the house and take care of her brother Amnon. Once Tamar gets to the house she cooks a meal and ready to feed Amnon but he grabs her wrist and rapes her. She starts crying and now he hates her. he has his servant to throw her out of the house. Her brother Absalom see her crying and he ask did Amnon have his way with you? She said yes and he told her to keep quite and not tell anyone about this. Tamar was no longer a virgin. Absalom never said anything for 2 years so he decided he was throwing a party and wanteed the kings sons to attend and the King. King David turned down the offer. So Absalom askif Amnon could come. Amnon came to the party and he got drunk and Absalom ordered his servant to kill his brother.
King David got word of what happened to his son Amnon and wept. Absalom fled and went to Gershur.
Summary: God wants us to bring all of how problems to him. We are not to commit sin against his people. God is our judge not people.

Ch. 14
Joab the son of Zeruiah sent for a wise woman. He wanted her to act as if she was in mourning and he wanted her to go see the King. Joab told her everything to say to the King. She did as she was instructed. The King told her he would take care of the issue. She later asked the King if she could ask the king a question and he allowed her to ask the question. After listening to the question the King asked her if Joab had anything to do with this and she said yes. The king spoke with Joab and told him to go get Absalom from Gershur and bring him back to Jerusalem. the agreement was that Absalom couldn't see the king face to face when he returned home. It had been 2 years and he had not seen the king but Absalom wanted to speak to the king but Joab wouldn't take heed. Absalom reached out to Joab on more than one occassion. Absalom had his servants to set Joab field on fire. Joab set up a meeting with the King to meet with Absalom.

Summary: God loves us all. We must allow God to lead us in everything that we speak and think.

Ch. 15
Now Absalom has started to plot against his Father King David. bsalom has started to get the support of the people. Instead of sending the people to King David for answers to there questions Absalom takes it upon himself to answer there question as if he was King. Absalom had a huge following now.Now Absalom asked the king to let him go to Hebron. The king gave his blessing. Absalom had 200 men when he left Jerusalem. So the King heard what Absalom had done. So the King decided that it was time for him and his sevants to leave Jerusalem. Even King David advisor Ahithophel had joined Absalom. The king and servants had crossed the Brook Kidron and wander into the wilderness. The king told Zadok to take God's Chest back to Jerusalem that way he could spy on Absalom and bring the King information on what going on in Jerusalem. The king wept.

Summary: When we don't seek diections from God our lives falls apart. David's sons lives were evil, corrupt and judgemental. God wants us to prosper and walk in faith.
