In Jeremiah 43, the people reject God’s instruction through Jeremiah not to go to Egypt and they head there with their families. When they get to Egypt, Jeremiah prophesies that Egypt will be conquered by king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.

In chapter 44, Jeremiah reminds the people that the reason Judah was judged was because they were committing the same evil deeds of idolatry as they were doing now in Egypt. He warns them that they will all die in Egypt if they do not stop.

They refuse and God promises that except for a few, all the rest of them will die in Egypt. And the sign He gives that this will happen is that He will give the Pharaoh of Egypt into the hand of his enemies. That way the people will know that the Lord’s words stand.

Chapter 45 is God’s message to Baruch.
