Paul is in Jerusalem and some of the people stir up trouble and, in the process, try to kill Paul. He’s given permission to speak, and in chapter 22, he addresses the people, putting forward his defense. He recounts his experience on the road to Damascus where He met the Lord Jesus and was given his call to go to the Gentiles. The chapter concludes with Paul revealing that he is a Roman citizen by birth.

In chapter 23, Paul is brought before the council and sparks a heated debate between the groups when he claims he is on trial because of the resurrection. The Lord Jesus appears to him the following night reassuring him that he must get to Rome. A conspiracy to kill Paul is uncovered and he is taken under guard to Caesarea.
