Bible summary 2 Samuel 9-11 (day 105)

In chapter 9, David finds Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson and his best friend Jonathan’s son and treats him kindly by restoring all the land that belonged to Saul to him, giving him a servant Ziba to take care of the land and promising that Mephibosheth would eat at the king’s table as long as he lives.

In chapter 10, David sends condolences to Hanun the son of the king of Ammon after the king dies.  Hanun doesn’t receive the message, however, and instead mistreats David’s messengers.  David goes to war against them and wins.

Sadly this part of David’s story ends in chapter 11 with him committing adultery with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, one of the men in his army.  She gets pregnant and David schemes to get Uriah back home to sleep with her.  The scheme doesn’t work and David sets Uriah up to be killed in battle.  After the period of mourning for Uriah’s death, David takes Bathsheba as his wife, and she has a son.  But what David did displeased God.
